Central Hearing Facility – 400 W. Superior

The City of Chicago Department of Administrative Hearings consists of three different hearing locations:

  • Central Hearing Facility – 400 W. Superior, Chicago, IL 60654. The vast majority of City of Chicago tickets are scheduled at this location and any Chicago ticket that is scheduled elsewhere can be rescheduled to this location.
  • Neighborhood Hearing Facility (Northwest) – 2550 W. Addison St, Chicago, IL 60618
  • Neighborhood Hearing Facility (South) – 2006 East 95th St, Chicago, IL 60617

The courthouse located at 400 W. Superior, Chicago, Illinois is the primary courthouse. The building is actually called the Central Hearings Facility, but many people refer to it as “400 West Superior” or just “400 Superior.”

Location of the Central Hearing Facility

The Central Hearing Facility is located at 400 West Superior, Chicago, IL 60654. It is located two blocks west of the CTA Chicago Brown Line stop and is also located less than a block from the CTA #66 Bus Line at Chicago and Hudson.

Getting Around the Central Hearing Facility

Parking around the Central Hearing Facility is abundant; however, it is paid parking in the amount of $4.00 per hour. Parking is located on the street next to the courthouse and on the streets located around the courthouse.

When you enter the Central Hearing Facility you will pass through a metal detector and security. Once inside the building the cashier and payment centers are located immediately in front of you and the courtrooms are located down the long hall on your left. You are permitted to bring cell phones, but not food or beverage, into the building. All courtrooms are located on the first floor. The courtrooms are numbered from 101-116.

Types of Cases at the Central Hearing Facility

All tickets issued for violations of the Chicago Municipal Code are heard, or can be heard, at the Central Hearing Facility. These tickets include parking tickets, business and building code violations, vehicle impoundments, health code violations, taxi cab and ride share violations, overweight tickets, and all other tickets issued by the City of Chicago.

Parking tickets are heard all day from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. If your hearing is scheduled for that week, you can come in anytime between those hours and your case will be heard. All other violations are scheduled for a specific time, the earliest 9:00 a.m. and the latest at 3:00 p.m.

Hiring a Lawyer for Court at the Central Hearing Facility

The cases heard at the Central Hearing Facility are not typical traffic or criminal cases. These are administrative tickets that are prosecuted by the City of Chicago. As you might have guessed, the City of Chicago has its own rules and processes for prosecuting these cases. They can be very difficult to understand and comply with. Even many lawyers refuse to handle these cases due to the strict timelines and procedural issues.

Fortunately, Driver Defense Team knows the rules and handles thousands of tickets at the Central Hearings Facility each year. A lawyer from Driver Defense Team is at the courthouse full-time each and every day. In fact, the Driver Defense Team lawyer is a former prosecutor of these types of tickets.

The tickets at the Central Hearing facility are often very expensive. Having a skilled lawyer on your side can not only protect your job or business but also save you money. To discuss your City of Chicago case, contact us for a free, no-hassle consultation.
