Getting Around Skokie Courthouse

The Skokie Courthouse is located at 5600 Old Orchard Road, Skokie, Illinois 60077. It is just west of the I-94 Expressway and the Old Orchard Shopping Mall.

Parking is free at the Skokie Courthouse. It is located directly behind the building in a large parking garage. Just pull in through the main entrance on Old Orchard Road and the main drive will take you directly to the parking garage. There is usually ample parking but you may have to go up a few levels on busy days.

When you exit the parking garage, you’ll walk around to the side of the building and enter the courthouse from the main entrance. You’ll see the large flag poles and people out front. You must pass metal detectors and security to enter. As of the date of this writing, you are permitted to bring cell phones into the courthouse.

Once you’ve passed security, you will want to find your courtroom. The 100 level rooms are on the main floor that you enter on. This is where nearly all of the traffic-related cases are heard. Felony traffic cases may be heard in the 200 level courtrooms, which is on the second floor. The Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court is also on the first floor in room 236. You can also contact the Skokie Clerk at (847) 470-7250.

Types of Cases in Skokie Courthouse

Numerous types of civil and criminal cases are heard in the Skokie courthouse. These cases range from petty traffic cases (speeding), to misdemeanor traffic cases (reckless driving, aggravated speeding, misdemeanor DUI), all the way to felony traffic cases (felony DUI).

Petty and misdemeanor traffic cases are heard at 9:00 am, 10:30 am, 1:30 am or 2:30 pm in Skokie.
